Electrical & Electronics
Industry Snapshot :-
The electric power industry provides a vital service essential for modern life. It provides the nation with the most prevalent energy form known in history - electricity. The inception of electrical manufacturing industry in India is recent and is making humble progress because of lack of latest technology and dearth of research & development. Technological development is something on which, electronic manufacturing heavily depends for its survival, growth, and expansion and no manufacturer can survive unless he keeps himself abreast of the latest technological progress. The performance of the electrical equipment industry is closely connected with the electricity generation program of the country. The Indian government has made an ambitious 12 th Five Year Plan in this regard and has taken steps to counter dumping of cheap Chinese electrical and electronics goods. This will greatly enhance the demand for electrical & electronics equipments. We have world class manufacturing facility and infrastructure for manufacture of heavy electrical equipment. The electrical equipment manufacturing industry provides direct employment to over 3, 00,000 persons and indirect employment to over 15,00,000 persons. While exports of electrical equipment stood at US$ 4 billion in 2010-11, the industry expects exports to rise six-fold to touch US$ 25 billion within a decade, according to Indian Electrical Equipment Manufacturers Association (IEEMA).
The electronics industry has carved a niche for itself in the metamorphosing and globalized market. Ameliorating and accelerating high technology innovation & development is instrumental in the expansion of this industry. India is the fifth largest economy in the world. Because of its gargantuan population and the immense consumer demand, robust growth can be expected for the electronics industry. The liberalization of the Indian economy has led to a faster pace of growth in this sector. Electronics is one of the fastest growing segments of Indian industry both in terms of production and exports. De-licensing of the industry along with liberalization in foreign investment and concession in import tariff has attracted global players. Vast indigenous market and efficient production base are also an attraction to the overseas companies.
